#MickeyRescue night 17 was pretty interesting. Long one coming!! We had no idea at which location he would be so we werent sure where we should set up. The Hubs had seen him earlier at the new location so we just decided to start there. I spoke with the manager at Brookshires to get his permission to set the trap up and he was kind enough to let us. So we got ready and then waited for our boy. The Hubs got thirsty and since they didnt have cold Gatorade there, I walked over to the gas station where I spotted Mickey snoozing in the grass. Knowing his habits, we knew it was just a matter of time before he started roaming around so we waited. Unfortunately, the mean dog (who I named Scar because hes mean and looks like a lion) showed up and we knew Mickey wouldnt come while he was there. So again, we waited. FINALLY we spotted him when two good samaritans pulled up to help him. I let them know what we were doing, they wished us luck and left. By this time, he was in the parking lot. I fed him, backing up slowly until I was all the way in the cage. My heart was pounding. I just knew any second he was gonna bolt but he kept coming and when he was far enough in, The Hubs pulled the rope and WE GOT HIM!!! He freaked out for a minute or two but then calmed down enough for me to do what Ive been dying to do for 17 days... I sat next to him and just petted him for probably an hour. We have to say a big thanks to Elaine and her daughter Mallory because without that call, we wouldnt have known where he was. Also to Gail who came by to see us and was there at the time of capture. She was clearly our good luck charm tonight.
