A volunteer writes: I wanted to get my hands on Lucy the moment I saw her in her kennel....What a beautiful and majestic looking dog! I love her big head, her expressive eyes that say: what am I doing in this kennel when I was running free in my home just yesterday, never left alone and loved by my masters...? Indeed, Lucy was relinquished into our care because of housing issues. Her owners say that she is very friendly and affectionate, lived in peace with other dogs, is welcoming of newcomers and children, knows a number of commands but would chase cats...Lucy is part Shepherd, that might be why...I was not disappointed walking Lucy. She is gorgeous and has a beautiful figure although she had babies at some point. She appears healthy, although on the thin side and wears a well groomed coat with semi long hair. Lucy is most likely housetrained and walks very nicely on the leash. She is fine with other dogs seen on the way. She sits and stays on command and settles by my side as I sit on the side walk. Lucy is reserved. She needs to see more of me, give me maybe a little test.. I hope I pass.. I want so much to be her friend. Lucy and I had a second walk, of course. She loves treats and would do anything, I think, to get some. She even has the nerve to search my pocket. I forgive her because I love her so much but" counsel" her about the behavior. Lucy is warming up to me. She is on my lap now...giving me kisses galore. It does not take much to win the love of a dog.. We, humans, should really model after them...Well, by now, you have understood that" I love Lucy." I hope you will too. She is at the Manhattan Care Center, a very awesome girl!
