Mid-Day Market Update 9.30.13 As of 11:25 am Corn-- Dec 13: $4.48 ¾ down $0.05 ¼ Mar 14: $4.61 ¾ down $0.04 ¾ Soybeans— Nov 13: $12.90 ¾ down $0.29 Jan 14: $12.93 ¾ down $0.27 ¾ Comments: Another USDA report, another surprise. The USDA released their quarterly Grain Stocks report and much to the surprise of the trade, the report showed corn stocks as of Sep. 1 at 824 million bushels versus the average guess of 681 million bushels. Soybean stocks were estimated at 141 million bushels versus trade guess at 124 million. Immediately after the report futures dropped sharply. Seasonal harvest pressure along with the bearish report should keep downward pressure on the board for some time. Now that this is out of the way, estimates will start showing up for the next round of reports scheduled for 10/11/13.
