Midweek Nor’Easter Could Be “Crippling”-Coade By MNN. Last updated: 2014-03-24 15:06:28 Veteran CBC weatherman Peter Coade isn’t pulling any punches, as he has been quoted a describing an upcoming midweek Nor’Easter as potentially “crippling”, according to the Maritime Weather Agency. The weather site, which repeatedly terms the upcoming storm as a “monster’, said typically it’s unusual for weather models to all agree as to the nature of the intensity of such a storm, but in this case it says all 3 major models are in agreement, and “are all painting a horrifying picture for the Maritimes on Wednesday.” Coade says snowfall amounts up to 40 to 50 centimetres can be expected in some areas, with winds anticipated in excess of 120KM/H, or a Category 3 Hurricane, similar to Hurricane Sandy, which devastated the New Jersey and New York coastline in 2012. Coade says its force could be reminiscent of White Juan, which swept across the Maritimes in 2004, dumped up to a metre of snow, and caused fatalities. Power outages should be anticipated, so an emergency kit should be available, and it’s recommended you be aware of comfort stations in your area in case you need to leave your home to get warm.
