Military Courts – A desperate attempt to turn #Pakistan into an American Police State The decision by the Government to lift a moratorium on capital punishment and try the terror suspects in military courts has been received with mixed responses. Though the decision appears to be rushed in, in actual fact the Pakistani leadership has been grappling with the idea of countering ‘terrorism’ for years with the revival of Islam being the actual impetus. Musharaf set up the anti-terrorist courts; the Zardari government initiated the idea of Pakistan Protection Ordinance; whilst the Nawaz Government turned it into the Pakistan Protection Act; and now comes the idea of military courts under the umbrella of a National Action Plan chalked out in the American Embassy in Islamabad. It will simply be another failure, only for them to propose a new plan. No plan is greater than Allah’s plan and the Muslimeen put their trust in Allah when He (SWT) says, وَيَمْكُرُونَ وَيَمْكُرُ اللَّهُ ۖ وَاللَّهُ خَيْرُ الْمَاكِرِينَِ They plot and plan and Allâh too plans, and Allâh is the best of the planners. [TMQ Al-Anfal: 30] Imprisonment, abduction and torture have all failed to halt the revival of Islam and the inevitable decay of secularism. The increasing demands of the public for a change in the democratic system and its subsequent replacement with the Islamic system of Khilafah have posed a dilemma whose proportions are proving catastrophic for the regime and their masters. The military courts are the ideal stage to try the accused, away from the cameras and without undesired public intervention and with unquestionable consequences – effectively legalising extra-judicial kidnappings and killings. The state machinery will soon be on its way to trialling people for their political views, in particular Islamic ones and enacting whatever punishment it deems fit. The decision to go ahead with the military courts is one shared by both the civilian government and the real rulers of Pakistan - the Military. Most of the Politicians have come out in favour of the decision, with any murmurs of ‘concern’ only serving as a smokescreen; giving the impression that they are concerned over such measures which may result in threats to freedom of expressing their own political opinions when, in actual fact, they themselves know full well that this is an attempt to silence genuine legitimate opposition voices. Even the diminishing liberal influence in Pakistan have failed to address the real issue; their chief concern being the threat to civilian democracy by handing strictly civilian matters to the military courts thus extending an already overly-excessive impingement on the system. However, despite this, many liberals have accepted this idea as a temporary measure to remedy the situation which clearly demonstrates that the liberals of Pakistan are not really liberals; liberalism is only used whenever and wherever suits to the extend the western hegemony over the region. What really needs to be understood is that this step is a clear attempt at tarring all Islamists (militant and non-militant) with the same brush and thus meting out punishments which would safeguard the “American Raj” by silencing legitimate voices that challenge the current corrupt colonial system and policies. The ultimate purpose of such measures seek to serve only one purpose and that is the furthering of the US agenda in Pakistan at the expense of the return of Islam itself. These courts only aim to deter and punish those that oppose the US War on Islam by silencing the opposition to: the proxy war in the tribal areas; the expansion of the US private agencies; the drone attacks killing Muslims and violating our sovereignty; exposure of the detrimental foreign policy being enacted by our military and civilian leadership, the adoption of crippling economic policies… and the list is endless. Oh Muslims of Pakistan, These are no more than desperate but futile attempts at suppressing the revival of Islam and the re-emergence of the much-anticipated Khilafah in the region. Be not deterred from speaking the truth in the face of these tyrant rulers as this is what they really desire. Let us find the motivation and aspiration from the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم who informed us in a hadith reported by Tirmidhi: After you there are going to be days of patience. The patience during that time is like the one clutching on to a hot coal. During those days the reward for the one who adheres to the Commands of Allah will be equivalent to the reward of fifty men who did an action like his.
