Mini-Ministry Outreach Philippians Chapter 3 (Before we turned back to Philippians we read in Acts that the witness of Saul- later to be called Paul- was so strong that opponents of the gospel sought to kill him, but but Gods plan was for the gospel to extend all the way to the ends of the earth and to you and me.) Praise God!! (Now read what Paul says about himself and his Christian walk:) Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 3: 12 ( Not having yet attained maturity in Christian living will not hold Paul back in any way, shape , or form, he is looking forward to what God has for him in the area of Christian growth) Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do,:Forgetting what is behind and straining to what is ahead,3: 13 ( Practical Paul is living in the present, he knows that he is a work in progress but he is looking towards the future) I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.3: 14 ( Like an Olympic runner- ) Paul could very well have witnessed Olympic games, they were held in Ephesus where he lived for three years-( he presses on for the prize of being one day called up to heaven) All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. and if at one point you think differently, that too, God will make clear to you 3: 15 ( He points out that all Christians should be like- minded in commitment, conviction, and desire for growth in christian living and that if some are not yet sure, he tells them that God is willing to lead them.) Only let us live to what we have already attained. 3:16 ( Paul is telling them to hold on to however much growth they have already attained and not to get discouraged by their progress.) God bless us everyone
