Minister Lawrence Wong sharing his speech highlights during the PAP60 Commemorative Event. Minister Lawrence: Celebrating PAPs 60th anniversary by going back to the birthplace of the Party - at Victoria Memorial Hall (now Concert hall) to honour our pioneer leaders and members. As a member of the post-65 generation, I dont have first-hand experience of what Singapore was like in the early years. But I’ve read the books, listened to the audio tapes, and watched the old films. I’ve heard the stories from my late grandfather who survived the Japanese occupation, and struggled to make a living as a fisherman. I know enough to appreciate the struggles and tribulations our Party pioneers had to go through in starting the Party and building our nation. So as we celebrate #PAP60, we want to remember the past, and imbibe the pioneering spirit and values that will enable us to build a brighter tomorrow!
