Minister Motshekga will publish draft Minimum Norms and Standards by 12 September 2013. We need these noms and standards so that schools like Nyangiliswe Senior Secondary in the Eastern Cape can get proper toilets. At Nyangiliswe there are 735 pupils and eight pit toilets. Pupils are at real risk of contracting diseases from them – especially the girls, some of whom told have told us about the rashes on their skins they think was caused by them. Some of the cubicles do not have proper doors. Our learners must have toilets that are safe, hygienic and private.
