Ministry urges Kuwaiti tourists to follow guidelines The Foreign Ministry’s consular department called upon Kuwaiti citizens who plan to spend the summer vacation abroad to check the expiry date of passports and visas issued for destination countries well in advance. A statement issued by the department regarding guidelines for Kuwaitis during the summer vacation stressed on the importance of checking passport expiry dates before departing the country, as passports should be valid for no less than six months in commitment to laws of some countries. The statement also stressed on the need to obtain a visa for destination countries that impose visas on Kuwaiti citizens well in advance of travel date, keeping in mind that those traveling to the EU are required to issue visas for first point of entry. The statement highlighted the purpose of the visit should conform with type of visa sought from the embassy, calling upon citizens to abide by foreign customs’ regulations, issue medical insurance, and avoid traveling with domestic helpers (maids) except when absolutely necessary. Citizens are also urged to avoid traveling to places that are witnessing security instability, and in cases of emergency, they are advised to communicate directly with the diplomatic missions of Kuwait in those countries through the telephone numbers on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website; mofa.gov.kw. Also: KUWAIT CITY: Kuwait foreign ministry undersecretary Khaled Al-Jarallah said the UAE delegation reflected the Arab Gulf country’s keenness on importance of economic, trade, financial, industrial, investment services sectors. He noted that bilateral trade exchange reached $3.3 billion in the first half of 2012, with the two countries willing to elevate it to new levels. Al-Jarallah said Kuwait and the UAE were cooperating in political, consular, research, defense, economic and financial spheres. For their part, President of the union of UAE’s chambers of commerce and industry Mohammad Al-Rumaithi, and member of Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry Essam Al-Bahar talked about economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. They mentioned a meeting between Kuwaiti and UAE businessmen that was held recently, during which a cooperation protocol was signed. The two sides, meanwhile, signed the minute of the higher committee meeting, signed an environmental program for 2014-15, the executive program of the cultural and technical cooperation for years 2013-15, and a cooperation program on training of diplomats and research.
