Minnesota’s new Public Benefit Corporation Act took effect on January 1, 2015. In support of Social Purpose Enterprise or Social Entrepreneurship focusing on two bottom lines: achieving business success AND positive social change. The new corporate structure allows for more flexible use of profits generated by businesses with the designation, rather than limiting the business to paying dividends to shareholders. .
