Misinformed Heinbockel Supporter In response to the letter dated - TopicsExpress

Misinformed Heinbockel Supporter In response to the letter dated 9/28, "Heinbockels record". I would like to address the following misinformation. The consolidation of the 911 dispatch was initiated in response to balancing the budget and not in response to a threat to citizen safety. There is in fact an equal or higher probability of being transferred now then before. There have been hundreds of documented complaints filed in regards to the new system. The union opposition was purely in response to public and firefighter safety as the dispatchers are NON-UNION employees. The city fleet department is running on bare-bones. Currently there is one mechanic that is certified to work on emergency vehicles, his duties are split between fire and sanitation. Management has been made aware on a daily basis regarding vehicle safety. At times we have almost as many trucks at the city yard as we do in our stations. The city management stopped the vehicle replacement program budget funding and has used the money elsewhere in the city. The rescue truck that caught on fire was well past the national standard and should not of been on the road. In regard to "fire union working to enrich their members on the back of the taxpayers".Fire Union members have received no pay raises since 2009. They have in fact been forced to take pay cuts while the city council has approved numerous raises for NON-UNION employees up to 41%. Mrs. Heinbockel was invited twice to speak with us prior to our endorsement of Brent Malever and was a no-show. Both the Fire and Police have chosen to support Brent Malever and feel he will fairly represent the citizens and employees of Ocala equally. Robert Altman Union President Putting Citizens First
