Missed Opportunity I wish I could forget this moment. It has been - TopicsExpress

Missed Opportunity I wish I could forget this moment. It has been two summers past now and the face of the young boy still plays out in my mind. I had the chance. I missed it. Because of fear and selfishness, I missed an opportunity to share the love of the Lord with a young boy. Allow me to set the scene. I am home alone working in my garage. Piles of things were flying so fast and I was on a roll to recover this area. My music was playing and I was enjoying what at times can be a daunting task of cleaning out the garage. Up in the driveway rides a young boy from down the street who in the past had exhibited some strange behaviors. He asked if I had a screwdriver so he could tighten something on his bike. I said no. I lied. I knew exactly where my tools were and how many screwdriver s I had to use. I hid them from him. But more than this, I hid an act of kindness from him that could have led to a conversation about the Lord or finding out about his life that seemingly was going very well for him now as there had been no recent ‘strange’ behavior. He rode away sad, but he wasn’t the one who was most upset. I was. What a shame that I missed this opportunity to reach out to someone in need in the name of the Lord. I know that God has had a plan in this happening in my life, because that lesson of learning the pain I felt by neglecting someone has prohibited me from repeating that action. I only wish that I would have remembered the verse from Proverbs 3:3,4 which states “Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.” Know this, that each day God sends people to you who need to hear the good news of the Lord and his love. You are that light that touches someone’s heart just by being there. Don’t take my example of neglecting that person. Reach out in his love. He will protect you and guide you as to what to say even if you do not know. Do Good Things- Hugs in Him- Amy C. 09 09 13
