Mississippis own TRADEMARK by Debbie Milliern The South has a long history of producing some of the best musical talent in the business and carrying on the long tradition is Trademark, Columbus Mississippis own Motley Crue of country music. Founded by front man Charles Derrick in 2005, Trademark made the move from local cover band to playing originals and debuting videos on CMT. From humble beginnings in Caledonia, Charles has worked hard over the years through lineup changes and adversity to build a brand for Trademark that the fans have grown to love. The band, which now features Charles as lead singer, Griffin Hardy on bass guitar, Lukas Elijah on guitar and Chas Henry on drums, has been touring strong since the summer of 2011, sharing the stage with the likes of The LACS, Rodney Atkins and Bad Company. They have built their live shows into something that friends dont let friends miss, according to loyal fans. Sponsored by Peavey and Jagermeister, Trademark has added an impressive light display and video screens playing Trademark TV to go along with their already high-energy stage show. Trademarks first show ever was at Fat Daddys, and they love to come home whenever they get the chance. One of those chances was this past weekend. The band played two nights in the place where they began, but they have been known to pop up in various clubs in the Golden Triangle. The first time I saw Trademark was in December of 2012 at Tommy Guns, and their country rock sound was what got me hooked. “Say It Aint So” was the first original released by Trademark, and from the first few chords I knew I was hearing something special. Trademark used their fame for a good cause by donating time to charity at the Second Annual Run Up for Downs in March of 2014. The cause was special to frontman Charles, who has a child of his own who has Down syndrome. These days Trademark is touring and promoting their new album “A New Season,” which features 11 hard hitting tracks, only one of which is a cover. The albums are available in hard copy at Trademark shows or through Paypal. iTunes and Google Play have digital copies of the albums as well.
