Mittens eluded us today. I met with Matt and Lisa today in an attempt to find and rescue Mittens. We walked in the creek for a few minutes and came upon the tree where Mittens was last seen yesterday. The brush was lush and the ground quite uneven. The smallish tree was leaning over the creek, thick with epicormic branches so there was no way to locate Mittens through the green canopy. The nearby 34th Street traffic could easily overwhelm any potential meows. I would have to climb to get my eyes into the treetops. I anchored into a nearby Swamp Chestnut oak (a big beautiful one) and kept my lanyard in Mittens tree to stay close (it was too small to climb). I shook the tree violently many times and climbed into it for about an hour. During the climb, I got a good look at every square inch of it. Mittens was no longer in that tree. Im hopeful that she got down last night and she will appear over the next few days. Her loving family is worried sick about her. Im hoping for good news from Matt and Lisa soon. =^..^=
