Mmm cant decide what I think about the teachers strike on Thursday 11th July so Im going to put my thoughts out there and would he interested in hearing your opinions. I can see both points of view and only hope that parents and teachers can put themselves into the others shoes and understand why its such an emotive subject. I think its a shame that teachers have been let down by the Govt and their unions to the extent that they feel that they have no option but to strike. However, at the end of the day Im sorry but I dont agree with the statement that it is the hardest job in the world - I do appreciate fully that it is a very difficult and demanding job, but so are lots and lots of others which are less well paid and have less benefits. Is it a good time to strike or not? from the childrens point of view its probably the least disruptive as they will be doing nice things like end of term celebrations etc. but from a working parents point of view its a nightmare trying to cover the six weeks holidays never mind another day so close to them and when employers may be less flexible due to having staff holidays to cover...but in the grand scheme of things - whilst ever parents and teachers are at loggerheads the Govt can sit back in relax in the knowledge that the old divide and conquer technique has worked yet again...
