Modeling the Way of Physical Activity through Biking Dr. Paul - TopicsExpress

Modeling the Way of Physical Activity through Biking Dr. Paul Fokken, like others in the EHS College, has a passion for bicycling. Perhaps his favorite type of bicycling is bike tours. For the past seven years he has completed six 7-day bike tours in South Dakota and Iowa. Some of you may be familiar with Tour de Kota which started out as the initial SD ride but is now known as the Ride Across South Dakota or RASDak. Others may be familiar with the oldest and largest bike tour, RAGBRAI, which is the bike ride across Iowa. Dr. Fokken is pictured after climbing in and out of the Badlands. The group he was riding with actually camped in Badlands National Park at Interior and he recommends that everyone should take the opportunity to camp/visit there. RASDak, which was held in June, was a seven day 505 mile bike ride across your great state. The first day, although rainy, he and a few others in his riding group were able to leave Palmer Gulch and climb the four miles up to Mt. Rushmore and the fog had just lifted in order to get a better look at the Faces! (Dr. Fokken is 2nd one on the left). In addition, the 2014 RASDak theme was the “Rancher’s Relief Ride” and RASDak raised over $10,000 to contribute to the cause!
