Mom Post: Can you please post anonymously? I have a tax question for you guys, if you can help. Our SK live with us. They see their mom EOWE, no overnights. She is also ordered to pay CS in the amount of $585/month. This has been the case since Oct. 2013. Since then, she has paid less than $300 towards her CS. Additionally, the children have not spend a single night at her house since then. Now, the IRS specifies Qualification - A qualifying child for this credit is someone who meets the qualifying criteria of six tests: age, relationship, support, dependent, citizenship, and residence. Basically, it states that the child must live with the claiming parent at least six months of the year (among other requirements). BM is insisting, threatening, calling and texting. Shes like a dog with a bone. She says that the law has changed, and that we are not allowed to claim more than 2 kids, and that she will be claiming the third. I cant find anything on this. Has anyone heard anything similar? Additionally, the IRS also says that the CP is the one that claims the children with some exceptions. What exceptions are these? RP. No Bashing Please. ~Ingrid~
