Mon AM weather forecast.... Today: Dry through much of the day with some good sunny spells this morning . During this afternoon however it will become cloudier with some light rain coming in across Sanday and the Fair Isle. Southerly winds increasing to gale force. Maximum Temperature: 8 Deg C (46 Deg F) Tonight: Continuing to cloud over this evening with outbreaks of rain these light and patchy over Orkney but heavier over Shetland. The southeasterly winds will continue to be gale force. Minimum Temperature: 5 Deg C (41 Deg F) Tuesday: A cloudy and wet start but drier and brighter conditions with sunny intervals arriving in Orkney by early afternoon but unlikely to reach Shetland before dusk. Winds easing. Maximum Temperature: 6 Deg C (43 Deg F) Outlook for Wednesday to Friday: Becoming cloudy wet and very windy on Wednesday. Cloudy with rain or showers on Thursday. Mainly dry and sunny with light winds on Friday. Coastal Waters Forecast for Cape Wrath to Rattray Head including Orkney Wind: South 5 to 7, backing southeast 6 to gale 8. Visibility: Good, occasionally moderate later. Weather: Occasional rain later. Sea State: Rough or very rough, occasionally moderate at first.
