Monday 09/29/2014 Today, the Lawrence County Sheriffs Office hosted and active shooter scenario training at the South Point High School. The scenario simulated an active shooter in the building which allowed law enforcement, EMS, and school employees a chance to train for a situations we hope never ever occurs. The training began just after 8:00 AM. No students were present as this was an in-service day for the staff. Those who participated were; the Lawrence County Sheriffs Office, Coal Grove Police Department, South Point Police Department, Chesapeake Police Department, Lawrence County EMS, Patriot EMS, St. Marys Hospital, Air Evac, South Point FD, Perry TWP. FD, Chesapeake FD, Cabell Co. EMS, South Point School District and a representative from each school district in Lawrence County. If I left someone out I apologize. Air soft guns were used in an effort to make this more realistic and the EMS and helicopter did transport victims to St. Marys Hospital for their training purposes. I felt that this training went very well and everyone did a great job. This is just our continued efforts to do what we can to keep our schools safe. Stay Safe! Sheriff Jeff Lawless
