Monday Update During this time weve been completely overwhelmed; overwhelmed with sorrow, gratitude, thanksgiving, sacrificial generosity, and love. Thank you for the overwhelming amount of prayers--they are making a HUGE difference! PRAISE REPORTS: - Last night Teddy started slowly passing small amounts of urine. It shows at least one (hopefully both) of his kidneys might be healing, giving him the opportunity to start flushing out all the liquids built up in his body. Without this event, his chances were much slimmer. - The seizures stopped. He hasnt had any in the last 24hrs. - His oxygen levels are slowly getting better, and theyre talking about changing him out to a less intense ventilator. - Yesterday he was able to open his eyes for just a moment to look at Isaac. A very unexpected and special moment considering hes been so out of it with all the meds hes on. CONTINUED PRAYER: - Tonight they started warming him up from the cooling pad (1/2 a degree every hour). This transition can often be jolting, and there are many potential problems. Pray it will go smoothly and well see Teddy improve throughout it. - His organs. There is still a lot of concern for his liver (which may be continuing to bleed), his intestines and spleen (probably denied blood flow for several days) and kidneys. - His blood. We need him to be able to clot properly in order for the internal bleeding to stop. - His fluids. Although hes starting to pee small amounts, hes still VERY puffy. - His brain. Overall this is the main concern. There is still no way to know how much damage he sustained. He has an MRI scheduled for Wednesday (as well as posibly an EEG tomorrow), and we should find out more then. - His MRI. He will have to be moved for this procedure, and transition can be jarring. - Wisdom as we try to honor God open-handedly in our decisiouns. Isaac and I have been recounting all the small miricles that have happened over the last week, and clearly see Gods hand at work within this horrible situation. Wed love to share just a few with you. - The baby steps of progress. Yesterday all the news from the doctors was bad, and it really was feeling hopeless. Having these small changes towards health have been a game changer for us, and been a massive answer to prayer. - Through many facts were finding out, it was a miracle in-and-of-itself that Teddy made it out of the O.R. and through the first night alive at all. - We are being treated at a level 4 NICU. It is the only one in a 5-state radius, and is known for its specialization in oxygen-deprived brain research. - We were able to get on a trial drug working specifically with babies who have brain damage due to lack of oxygen during delivery. There are only 50 babys allowed on the trial, and we were number 44. - Providence Hospital (which has been nothing less of incredible during this whole process) was able to discharge me the morning after the accident instead of keeping me the normal 72hrs after my C-section. Thank you again friends for your support. I cannot emphasize enough what a huge difference your prayers are making! Every day with our little boy is a gift and it has been a privilege getting to be with him. Even being so sick and so out of it we can tell he is such a strong little soul. Its amazing to see how much he is loved by so many. Please feel free to stop by. The times weve come out into the waiting room to find you there ready to feed, pray, hug and love on us have been the glue holding us together during this time of sorrow. We havent had time to read all the messages here, but whenever were able we stop and read your prayers and enouragement youve written here it fills our day with hope. God has been taking such good care of us, and I thank him daily for sending us all of you. Keep up the prayers; were fighting!
