Monday night at the Sandbar & Grille in Buxton… We had 33 players including four new registrations and two return players… First place got a $50 Visa Gift Card and second place got a $20 Sandbar & Grill Gift Card. The Donkey Shout Out goes to Jay Tolson… He got a donkey drink charm for being the first player eliminated from the game… Trung Khuu one of our new local registrations made the first bid for the high hand with an Ace high diamond flush... (A-2-3-5-6). He almost hit a straight flush but he got the 6 instead of the 4. Steve Swartwood topped that with a full house. Smiley hit Queens full of 7s. But, there was a bigger full house, Aces full of 10s. Katie Frank and Troy Ahrendt split a pot with the boat being on the board. Split pot, split bonus points… 1000 banked for both of them for sharing the High Hand of the night. Troy Ahrendt went on to make it to his eighth final table and place 8th. He’s third in the points and has Jennie Harris stalking him. He did open up his points lead on her just a little… 13 points is the difference now. Steve Jones made it to his tenth final table and placed 7th. He moved up two spots to 12th in the points. Aaron Williams made it to his seventh final table of the season surviving his bounty and placed 6th. He seems to be cruising along in the points at sixth place. Alex Bonner placed 5th at his 14th final table of the season keeping him comfortably in fifth place in the points… creeping up on Jennie. Very consistent play as he pulls away with the finals lead… I told you guys about Alex back in the preseason. Eddie Ochs survived his bounty and made it to his eleventh final appearance of the year, trying to keep up with Alex. He placed 4th in the game, sits in second in the points and gained some points on the league leader, Jeremy Stafford. By the way, Stizzle is the first player this season to break the 1000 point mark. Capucine Carmen made it to her ninth final of the season and placed 3rd. She is very consistent and makes a lot of finals too. If it weren’t for her brief absence earlier in the season, she could be right there with Alex. The season isn’t over with yet… There’s still around 20 weeks left. So the final table came down to heads up between one of our new registrations visiting from Baltimore Md., Tanner Zeisel and one of our up and coming stars in the league… Kayla Charrette. The blinds were 10k/20k and I was dealing… Tanner was in the small blind, Kayla in the big blind… Tanner called the big blind with an all in… He was the small stack. Tanner had 5-7 off suit and Kayla had Q-9 off suit. The flop was Q-4-A… Queens for Kayla, Ace high for Tanner. The turn was a 6… Queens, Ace high for Kayla... An open ended straight draw for Tanner… Tanner needs a 3 or an 8… And the river was an…….. Ace. Kayla wins with two pair, Aces over Queens and a total chip count of 570K. She got the Visa Gift Card and becomes the sixth player to become a two time winner in 2013. The only female two time winner. Watch out for her, she’s just getting started. Very smart and very consistent which makes her very competitive. Tanner got the Sandbar & Grille Gift Card and qualified himself for the HIPL 2013 Island Championship with his 2nd place showing. Welcome to the league. The Loser’s Lounge had eight players competing for bonus chips and points. Justin Reinard came in second and got some bonus points but it was Damon Ahrendt that lost his bounty in the main tournament but did get 2000 chips banked and some bonus chips for winning in the lounge.
