The rotating strikes by home daycare workers have hit Montreal and Quebec City. The Federation of daycare workers wants more money from the provincial government, arguing the owner-operators and employees work a 50-hour week but are only paid for 35 hours. = The Quebec Education ministry wants to abolish half of the provinces school boards, to curb spending. The Journal de Montreal says the government wants 34 Francophone school boards gone. = The head of the Montreals firefighters union has been suspended for six months without pay. Ronald Martin was behind the unrest at Montreal city hall this Summer. = The woman who kidnapped a day-old infant from a hospital in Trois Rivieres this year will do 2 years in jail. 21 year old Valerie Poulin-Collins has pled guilty. She will also do a half-year in rehab and be on probation for 3 years. When shes free, she cannot go near daycares, hospitals or schools. = A Quebec court has ordered Senator Patrick Brazeau to rehab in Sherbrooke for two months. He was allegedly drunk behind the wheel of a parked car in Gatineau on Monday afternoon. = Officials at the Laval University Hospital in Quebec City are looking into the reasoning of an obstetrician, who refused to help a woman, having her baby in the parking lot last week. Dad had called the hospital to let them know his wife was close but when he pulled into a parking spot, the babys head was nearly out.
