More South Jackson: STEMC & JEA always strive to be good stewards of your money. In light of that, a contractor finished work on the South Jackson transformers two days ago to extend the life of the transformers. All standard tests were performed and procedures were followed before returning them to service. In spite of this, there was a serious failure and fire on one of the transformers this morning. Fortunately our personnel still at the substation were not injured. Electric service has been restored from alternate sources at this time. We will be investigating to see IF we can determine what went wrong.
