More idiocy by yet another English quango! Cornwall is represented by a flamingo and Wales by a pig! Set against the background of complete and utter mismangement of our Cornish heritage and environment by English Heritage and Natural England, another fellow quango Visit England is adding insult to injury. The organisation drew up a map to show off the best tourism hotspots across England (and Wales too for some inexplicable reason) for a feature in Time Out magazine, and included colourful illustrations such as Shakespeare’s birthplace in Warwickshire, Castle Howard in Yorkshire and Stonehenge in Wiltshire. However, the whole of Cornwall and Devon was represented only by a peacock and two trees. Bizarrely, a spokesman for VisitEngland defended the map, saying the artist was inspired by a time she holidayed in Cornwall ‘at a place named Trago Mills’. The map extending out to show Wales shows a pig! Ah well, Visit England lets disregard thousands of years of culture, of history, of heritage, of natural environment and landscape and visit Cornwall to see a flamingo and Wales to see a pig. These English quangos are out of control. We really can do better! Have you signed the petition yet? Now might be a good time!
