More than 60-percent of the 37 people shot by APD since 2010 were living with mental health issues. Because of funding cuts in recent years, fewer people with addiction and mental health issues are getting treatment, and more of them are having run-ins with police. Thank you Governor Martinez for continuing the assault on those with mental health issues. You have truly marginalized an already at-risk population by giving control of mental health in NEW MEXICO to your friends in Arizona. Oh yeah, I hope you had a good fund raising trip to Arizona while the state you represent was dealing with a volatile situation in its biggest city. Coincidence, I think not! You have devalued our educators, you have decimated our behavioral/mental health system, you have circumvented due-process, you act as a dictator not as a Governor, and you have consistently denied and/or made it practically impossible to access information regarding your decision making process. I really hope the public recognizes your inability to guide the state of NEW MEXICO in an socially and financially productive manner. Im sure your wealthy friends in Arizona would welcome you with open arms..errr...pocket books. Your time is short.
