More visual evidence of the decline of Detroit. I spent most of the first 8 years of my life in my Dads GI Bill house at 20541 Caldwell, Detroit, MI. He bought the house new in 1947 when I was 3 years old. I have been driving by the house with Google Street View since 2009. Would not consider entering that area in person today. Here are three images from 2009, 2011 and 2013 of the neighborhood. As I drive the street today in Google Street View only one house is not boarded up. The story playing out in Detroit is largely missed in the press.
