More years ago than I care to remember I was working at Oak Ridge Trailer Park on Rt 57 in Liverpool. I was working up close to Rt57 when I heard a siren and watched as Moyers Corners station 2 went rolling by, I didnt think to much about it until I saw Liverpool come screaming by heading towards Moyers Corner. I looked in that direction and saw a lot of smoke and heard some distant booms. I got in my truck and went to the office, running into my bosss office he was already saying you havent left yet? I jumped back in my truck and took the back way up to Rt 31, There were some fireman blocking the road at rt31 and they filled me in on what was happening, then let me thru to the corners. When I got there I pulled over and ran to the Moyers Corner Chief standing in the middle of the road at Rt 57 & Rt 31. I looked down Rt57 and the fireman were laying in the ditch on the opposite side of the road from Suburban Propane, trying to keep there heads down and still get some water on the flames. We stood there watching 100lb tanks of propane explode and fly in to the air as I told him who I was and were I was from, but since I didnt have any gear he sent me back down Rt31 to relieve one of his guys with gear and help turn traffic around. I had to check in and leave my name and dept with one of their men and then headed back down the way I came. I was there for what seems like days listening to angry drivers and waiting for word from the scene. We were finally cleared to leave and I headed back to work to clock out and go home. My boss never questioned the overtime which shocked me, but I guess everybody has a heart. I heard later on that we did get called out to truck in water.
