Morning Commute: Dark. Freeway. Driving at a respectable pace in the left lane abreast of another car in the lane to my right. No left shoulder. Out of the very gates of hell emerges a swarm of large demon insects with an imminently apparent kamikaze mission. There were about 25 bugs in toto. Upon impact each one created a splatter the size of a baseball. My visibility is reduced to a fraction of what it should be within a second. I go into battlestations driving mode, using all my senses to safely pilot the Hello Kitty Van whilst furiously using the windshield washing fluid and wipers until I can see again. In the end I can proudly say that I have triumphed over the demons this day, but I cautiously await their vengeful return.
