Morning Devotion: “...Gird up thy loins, and take this box of oil in thine hand, and go to Ramothgilead:” (2 Kings 9: 1). MESSAGE:In the Oriental Milieu, men wore long robes and when they needed to do serious work, they wore a loin cloth (girdle) around the waist and tucked in their robes. The aim was to gain more freedom to move and work. This action was called ‘girding up the loins’. It meant that one should prepare for serious work; keeping loose loins meant that one was lazy or too tired to work (see Isaiah 5 vs. 27).In our Focal Scripture, Elisha told one of the sons of the prophets to gird up his loins. Put differently, Elisha told the trainee prophet to prepare for serious work. He told the trainee prophet to brace up for an uncommon assignment; he instructed that trainee prophet to prepare and focus his energy on the next assignment.Friend, God says, prepare! Prepare for every assignment God has given you, and every assignment men have given you. Preparation means staying ready and focused on your mission; preparation means you should avoid anything that can slow you down or drain your positive energy.Preparation means you dont want to take chances; preparation means you want to excel, work hard and put in your best to achieve results; it ensures that nothing stops your productivity; preparation means you are not willing to let anything distract you. It’s always better to over-prepare than to under prepare; it’s always better to go the extra mile in your preparations for destiny assignments. Familiarity with your assignment shouldnt stop you from preparing. Prepare as if you wont get a second chance. Life may not always give you a second chance when you dont prepare for your first opportunity. Always take your best shot; always prepare.Pray With Me: Lord, I choose to prepare, and stay prepared, in Jesus’ name! Have A Wonderful Wednesda
