Morning troops. Stand last night going through our footage for the Hey Vanity video, and its OK. Problem is Hey Vanity is far more then just OK. That said, I think weve got some serious work to do if we want a video thats worthy of attention. My suggestion is we get together, story board ideas and choose a day (weather permitting)to go and shoot a load more footage. My principle idea as it stands, is to use an effect similar to the one attached, and get us to dress up, go onto of either Garth Hill or Caerphilly mountain and have some fun. This kind of vibe with nature etc youtube/watch?v=DXYzrsJAJQE. The use of the split screen means we can all be in shot, and doesnt require a camera man. I think the band should invest in a steady cam for our phones, and couple that with image stabiliser in Final cut and well have some really smooth, 1080p moving shots. What I want from the shots are things like: *Each of us onto of a rock (Clean Bandit) dancing (wide angle), singing the chorus (close angle), *Reiterate the dancing shot, phil theres a classic shot of you busting a move, I think theres loads in doing lots more of that. *Acoustic guitar full song shots (each person separate, in the same place). *3x stages of each of us getting ready into camera shave/hair dry/hair gel. *A profile shot from each of us singing entire song. *Eccentuated guitar lines with a nice pan shot that falls in time to the pre chorus drop out. Guitarist stays static and the camera moves from behind then to face, in time. *I like the idea of us in shirts and ties, handing from different parts of a tree, with the camera static and our positions changing in time with the lines of chorus. *Pairs of us step clicking. *Arty shots of the journey there- leave the house with gear/traintickets,/trainride/walk up hill. *Cool Eve spinning with dress on so it flails. *Each person holding small cymbal on finger, other strikes. *general tomfoolery. *Sun set. One of the more outlandish ideas * Take cleaning gear, and whilst playing fighting one of us falls into mud, then has a hissy about their vanity. Fun. Upbeat. Outside. Dancing. Joy. Enjoyable to Watch. Underlying storyline. Nice touch. What this requires of us, really, is a day out, a clear plan of what needs shooting, some chronology and probably some caffeine on my behalf to edit it all. - (And more frustration at trying to download the plugin f for split screen to a cracked copy of final cut where folders are all in weird places). realistically, wed probably need a pick up day too, for bits weve missed. In some, I want this video to be something were proud of, as its going to get passed around a shit tonne. And, Clean bandit. I suggest we meet for an hour, maybe a pub, or atma, to bounce ideas in the next couple of days so we can get it done for when mixing is finished. Let me know what you think.
