Moses answered, “What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, ‘The Lord did not appear to you’?” Then the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” “A staff,” he replied. – Exodus 4:1-2 (NIV) Moses is made a case before God that he was the wrong candidate for the job of delivering the Jews from Egyptian oppression, and then God asked Moses what he had in his hand. We often think that we don’t have the resources that we need to bring about meaningful change in our communities, but God used a stick of wood to bring about the emancipation of the Jewish slaves. God is not limited to our resources. So…what is in your hand?
