Most importantly, they teach us that there is no such thing as an enlightened master. We’re all spiritually dumb. The closest we can ever get to being “enlightened” is simply to understand that we are naïve to it, and then to laugh about it together as a community. OMG THIS This is what I wish all my friends and etc would get when I share something that directly or indirectly calls their present ways of being into question. The implication isnt that I have it all together. The implication is that I know NONE OF US DO; and that the only way forward is if we drop any defensiveness about our foibles and just mutually enjoy sharing ideas; the more personally challenging the better. The vast majority arent confident in their capacity to grow; so they resent being personally challenged or reminded that they arent all that. They much rather take solace in mindless cultural illusions of togetherness that are really just a dance of the safe and predictable... facades; because the intimacy of transparency and authenticity is terrifying to those whose sense of peace is based on their delusions of control.
