Most of the time I have nothing good to say about craigslist, but this was posted...and I have to agree....and share! (Reported) I have no clue what my dogs birthday is (why?) I know--who cares. Normally, you adopt a dog from a breeder or pet shop, and they give you all those details: date born, mother, father, place of birth, etc. But I got my dog from a pound. The Shelter. Effing concrete cage with metal bars is what it was. Like the dog did a crime and needed to serve time. Anyways--today is the 1 year anniversary of bringing him home! So, from now on, I will consider this date his birthday. Its been a year of walks, lots of playtime & licking, a lot of fetch, and tons of treats. Some of the bad, like marking in the house(that was a biotch for a couple months), vet visits, and two ticks (uggggggg-lousy rotten insects). All worth it. He meets me at the door after my sukky days at work, jumping for joy! He follows me everywhere (he has come up from the workshop covered in sawdust several times-gotta love it). I cant explain the joy this little beast has brought me. Hes 50 pounds of pure love in a furry package. I thank God each & every day for this little precious gift. It amazes me that someone decided to give him up. Someone he probably loved and trusted. I just dont understand. So heres the thing-he will never be available again. He now has his forever home. I hope from the bottom of my heart he understands that. I know deep down he feels the love I have for him, and I think it makes him happy. Hes not my only animal, either-I have others I feel the same exact feelings for, and I have many in my past that I look forward to seeing again at the Rainbow Bridge when that time comes. I write this to hopefully convince others that those beautiful creatures sitting at Lollipop and Rochester Animal Services all deserve a chance. Go find one(or more) that brings you the joy mine have brought me. Your life will be so much better off. Peace.
