Most of the time when I post some long essay its when Im too free and Im only too free if Im in Phnom Penh... Yes Im back to this city I loathed so much, just two days ago. I have to get my police check to work in Phnom Penh, so while waiting, I went to stay 8 days in another province and one of the best times of my life there! Most of my pictures are also taken there.:) Ive gotten my police check(FINALLY) so I came back. And I can finally work! But the super ddly me changed my mind and decided to go to Siem Reap tomorrow(7 hours car ride!) because I dont think Ill enjoy being in this city for the next two weeks and I really want this trip to be perfect. Phnom Penh is like KL, just much poorer. I hate this place because people are just not genuine like those I met in the Kg Thom. People greet me only when they see me as a potential customer, instead of greeting me genuinely because Im a visitor to their country. Able-bodied beggars everywhere, angry sellers everywhere. I went to the market today and was just browsing through the clothes. There was a nice dress, I find it pretty but just alright. I casually asked for the price but the seller muttered 8dollar and took the dress down. I think its overpriced so i just said OhKoon(thank you) and walked away. She shouted at me and demanded me to go back. I kept saying:no no its okay, I dont want it. But she shouted:I give you 7dollar! 6dollar! COME BACK! I continued walking but she chased me, yelling at me:4dollar! BUY! PLEASE HELP ME BUY! She was reaaaaally fierce and non stop scolding me in Khmer language. Oh god I was really terrified so I bought it zzzzzzz. I also went to do my manicure and pedicure today! The girl picked the colors for me, didnt like it but she said its pretty then ok lor. The colors are really old especially my toenails, suitable for my moms age ^.^ both mani and pedi cost me 3USD, equivalent to about RM10. I dont usually go for mani pedi but when I do, it must be cheap ones ^^ Malaysias ones are really expensive, RM30 for only manicure! Not like manicure affects my appearance a lot like hairstyle and clothes.. The other day I had the first manicure experience(in a shop instead of home!) in Kg Thom, I did it with Aunty Esther, the owner of the homestay I stayed in, she did both mani pedi I did only mani and it cost us only 1USD for everything!!! Wow. then I went to their local hawker stalls and had a bowl of noodle with beef & pork slices with some intestines, quite nice :) 正宗Khmer food! I hate how I spend so much in the city because its just nothing much to do here. Cafe, shopping, drinking, sight seeing(museums blabla) when back in Kg Thom I can cycle, see sunset, play with the local teenagers... Aggressive tuktuk drivers and sellers everywhere its driving me crazy at how they just drag me and force me to buy/accept their service, cos I was very easy to be targeted..young female walking alone. I hate how 90% of the tuktuk drivers told me they know how to go to the place but once I got up onto their tuktuks, they dont know how to go, ended up wasting our time circling the city/asking for directions, and sometimes I even need to call for help. Some even charge me more because they said theyve used lot of petrol of finding the place! Then I would act kesian and frown like a small kid until they agree not to charge more. Advantage of being a girl haha. But I do love the coffee houses here. The cafés are usually made for foreigners as most of the locals find it too unaffordable to visit so the workers are very friendly and of course, they dont force you to buy their food/drinks. I usually spend my whole day there reading or planning my trip. I love Brown coffee! One thing about coming back from Kampong Thom(another province) is the vast difference that is really irritating me. I cant stop comparing! Phnom Penh is the capital city flooded with many tourists and foreigners, they get lots of financial help from what Ive seen. The schools accept lots of foreigners help and rely strongly on non-locals organisation, like the one Im in. Like if the flow of volunteers coming in stops, then the kids would have to wait till the next batch of volunteers arrive, then they will start all over again because different people teach different things. The kids tend to demand for things, instead of working for it. I feel very selfish and keep away most of the things I brought from Malaysia, because I would prefer to give it to Kg Thom kids instead of the city ones. Ive received different treatment and hospitality in the two places after all. ;) The bad thing about the whole Cambodia is the air condition is terrible. As if my acne scars are not enough, I have A LOT of new, fresh and squeezable pimples on my face esp forehead. Haih. I have to use Camera360 to take selfies already.:( Leaving for Siem Reap tomorrow and probably wont come back Phnom Penh anymore! Although I loathed this place but its the place I got tougher at, I dealt with most of the shits here and most of the times on the streets I was battling my tears...(not anymore ok) cos people always bully me. Hahaha So...so long Phnom Penh, bye bye!:) Siem Reap here I comeeee :)
