Motion Number: S4M-11147 Lodged By: Clare Adamson Date Lodged: 08/10/2014 Title: ScotSoft 2014 Motion Text: That the Parliament congratulates ScotlandIS on hosting ScotSoft 2014; understands that ScotSoft is the premier event in Scotlands digital technology industries calendar and incorporates a forum for keynote talks, interactive sessions and networking; further understands that it is delivered by industry leaders from across the globe and features the ScotSoft awards dinner, which includes the Young Software Engineer of the Year award, which this year was won by Blair Archibald of the University of Glasgow; congratulates Blair and all of the nominees, Daniel Waine of the University of the West of Scotland, Andrew White of the University of Strathclyde, Simone Conte of the University of St Andrews, Andrew Watt of Robert Gordon University, Leif Gehrmann of Heriot-Watt University, William Anderson of Abertay University, Gavin Whitehall of Glasgow Caledonian University, Craig Innes of the University of Edinburgh, Heather Ellis of the University of Dundee, William Daly of the University of Stirling, Samuel Cauvin of the University of Aberdeen and Darren Stewart of Edinburgh Napier University; believes that their work is representative of the best undergraduate software projects from across all of the students studying computer science and software engineering in Scotland, and commends ScotlandIS for its charitable work during ScotSoft, which this year raised £5,500 for the Trussell Trust.
