Mount Pleasant High School Band students earned medals at the recent State Solo and Ensemble Contest in Austin. The clarinet quartet of Anthony Martinez, Pablo Gutierrez, Emily Mott and Brenda Godoy earned a 1st Division on their Ensemble performance. A “1” is the highest score awarded. Jack Grissom earned a medal for a 2 rating on his French horn solo. To earn the medals, students logged many hours of practice over the past two months on challenging musical selections chosen by the Texas University Interscholastic League. They then had to perform the work before a judge, a challenge for any young musician.
