Mount Prodigal at Adner. Built in the early 18th c. During the Revolution, the Gloucester militia under John Page was encamped here in August of 1781 after the British forces landed at Gloucester Point. They later moved to the vicinity of Gloucester CH with the rest of the Virginia militia that Gen Weedon commanded. At that time, it was owned by John Hubbard. It was later bought by the Roane family. It nearly fell into ruin by the 1970s, but some initial renovation was done in the mid-70s, and lately, Im pleased to note (as you can see by the aerial photo) it has been well-renovated. A Gloucester treasure saved!
