Mountain Homeschool Mom: HELP!!! I am at my wits end with my tween. It seems this year I have to babysit him to make sure he does his work. I mean, I have to be TOTALLY ON TOP of him. Hes lying about what hes read and how many lessons hes completed. Outside of his age being a defining factor in this new behavior, do any of you have suggestions (outside of a cattle prodder, j/k) to get this little fart to bring back his work ethic of old (I never had to be all over him to get his stuff done). He LIKES what hes doing, but hes being so lazy and dishonest! We have much to do this year and I am frustrated already. He needs to know how to study for understanding rather than to turn in homework and make the grades. To enjoy learning because it makes sense. When it makes sense, it has something to do with him personally. Only then can he get motivated. Push doesnt work so well once it doesnt work so well. Self determined interest is the kind of learning one cant get enough of. If you call me for an appointment, I can do a phone assessment with you on the other end, listening in, which is important. It takes about 30 minutes. Things can get better pretty fast. I have a loooong list of references. Actually, you can start by seeing two short interviews on you youtube channel. One is from a school principal whos daughter had trouble with focus and participation... The link says autism alternatives, but these kids are not on the autism spectrum. https://youtube/user/AutismAlternatives
