Movement Against Bad Labor Practices, Illegal Dismissal and Bad Governance in Liberia and the World at Large UN Drive, Buzzy Quarter Monrovia, Liberia MY LETTER OF RESIGNATION AS INFORMATION OFFICER OF FLY July 17, 2013 Mr. Flamah Howard Secretary General Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY) Squatting in the Ministry of Youth and Sport Republic of Liberia Dear Mr. Howard: I write to express my compliments to the leadership for the opportunity afforded me to serve the youths of this country. It is disappointing though, but it is my pleasure to inform you and the general public about my frustration and subsequently my decision to resign as the Information Officer of the Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY). Mr. Howard, my decision to resign is deeply rooted in the misconceptions and gross abandonment of the agenda put forth by Mohammed Nasser during his campaign for the presidency of the Federation for which we heavily supported him and worked tirelessly to achieve, believing that this young man meant business for positive change. Unfortunately, the way he’s preceding is counterclockwise to his previous purpose for the youth community. The youth community will agree with me that during his campaign, Mohammed Nasser Projected to the young people of Liberia his Vision for FLY (2012-2014), but the fellow has massively failed to implement a single objective, and this is just sufficient to compel me to resign as a policy oriented person who is aware of political prudence in deeds and not words. I regret nothing economically attached to the position, but promise to be vocal on everything associated with the workings of the position as it matters to FLY’s relations with the public. Just a few of Nasser’s exposes his failures which cannot permit me to continue to work with his leadership at FLY as listed below: 1. Restructuring the county youth secretariats in the first six month(non is restructured) 2. Regional Projects to support the county secretariats(that is yet to take place) 3. Decentralization of travelling and educational opportunities with regional balance (this remains a nebulous deceit in miasma) 4. advocating for county youth secretariats to receive support from the county development/social development funds in their respective counties (as we speak, this is a mockery) 5. seeking Micro-financial opportunities for youth entrepreneurship (especially females) in the country(since his election, that has not happened) 6. He said, he was going to revisit and strengthen partnership with youth seeking institutions to regain their confidence, as we speak that has not but rather 98% of the youth institutions are frustrated and embarrassed with his leadership. 7. Under his leadership as president of FLY, he promised to place and entrust the implementation of projects and programs to members organization of FLY, while the Executive Committee of Fly play the monitoring and supervisory role in the implementation aspect. As we speak, that has not happened; rather, the Executive Committee continues to execute all programs that come to FLY, which include but not limited to’ OSIWA’s financial support to FLY ----------------------------------77,000.00 USD GOL Internal Audit Secretariat’s financial support to FLY---------- 9,000.00USD Action Aid-Liberia’s financial support to FLY -------------------- 4,000.00USD UNFPA’s financial support to FLY -------------------------------- 26,580.00USD Chinese Embassy’s financial support to FLY ---------------------25,000.00USD CENTAL’s financial support to FLY ----------------------------------487.00USD UNFPA’s second financial support to FLY --------------------------9,000.00USD UNFPA/UNESCO’s joint financial support to FLY ------------- 125,000.00USD All of the above projects were implemented by Mohammed Nasser and his two Hebrew brothers, leaving the more than two hundred youth groups in the cold and dashing their hopes to be part of the above projects, after voting Nasser and others into power. 8. He said he was going to advocate for the expansion of vocational training opportunities for young people throughout the country so as to give employable skills and link them to job opportunities. Fellow young people, with the eight counts above, I clearly solidified reasons for my resignation from the Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY) as the Information Officer. To conclude, Hon. Secretary General, in the face of Nasser’s failed promises, coupled with his administrative ineptitude and corporate bluff of flying from one country to another, I cannot bury my independence to protect Nasser and neglect the interest of the young people on the promises that Nasser made to them which I supported, but are failures today. Please inform him that total emancipation of the young people from his failed leadership is on the way! Sincerely yours, Mr. Anthony F.
