Moving deeper in my review of the Golden Decade of Music - TopicsExpress

Moving deeper in my review of the Golden Decade of Music 1965-1974, where I am selecting the artists alphabetically and playing selections of their songs I liked or found influential from that Golden Decade. I am now moving into the D’s and will play one from the next artist, Malcolm Jebennack, better known by the stage name Dr. John: an American singer-songwriter, pianist and guitarist, whose music combines blues, pop, jazz and zydeco. Dr. John started as a session musician since the late 1950s but gained a cult following in the late 1960s following the release of his album Gris-Gris and his appearance at the Bath Festival of Blues and Progressive Music. He came to wider prominence in the early 1970s with a wildly theatrical stage show inspired by medicine shows, Mardi Gras costumes and voodoo ceremonies. In 1973, with Allen Toussaint producing and The Meters backing, Dr. John released the seminal New Orleans funk album, ‘In the Right Place’, and produced his highest charting hit, Right Place Wrong Time, which reached #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. https://youtube/watch?v=HT4RainY-lY
