Mr Costa said that, on hearing of Mr Faggs intention to resign in - TopicsExpress

Mr Costa said that, on hearing of Mr Faggs intention to resign in August, he spoke to Mr Napthine and asked him to allow another election, assuring him he and his business friends would find a suitable candidate. He said he understood the election proceeded on the basis of that assurance. But Mr Costa warned that if Mr Jarvis is not elected, the government may intervene and appoint an administrator at Geelong. I believe the state government will not muck around, he said. Point also to consider: Geelong had the highest voter turnout of any local council in the recent local elections. Just goes to show how little changes in Geelong.
