Mr. D and I went to see Hercules yesterday. I had read a few reviews so I was a little apprehensive about seeing it. I have to say I was impressed. Mr. D tells me this movie is based on a graphic novel much like the 300 was. I thought it was a unique view of how the legend of Hercules may have come about. I mean that is some truth in all legends it is just a matter of finding it. This is one of those movies that has no stop computer graphics and fight scene after fight scene. Dont get me wrong there are some battle scenes that look rather authentic. The costuming was good. I also loved how they showed how things can get blown out of proportion. The centaurs were a perfect example. There is a story here and it was an entertaining and enjoyable one. I was fidgeting half way through it wondering when the movie would be over. That is a big plus for me. Dwayne Johnson is the perfect man to play this part. He has the size and strength to pull the part off and he can be very charming and compassionate on screen. I also loved that the writers portrayed Hercules as a modest man that did see he accomplishments as anything noteworthy. Finally it was nice to see the writers explanation for what happened to Herculess family. I think it was a nice Friday afternoons entertainment and isnt that why we go to the movies anyway.
