Mr. Prakash Surendran, thank you for your opinion therefore - TopicsExpress

Mr. Prakash Surendran, thank you for your opinion therefore mentioned through your comments in the recent fuel hike status in my Facebook. There are certain points to be noted therein and therefore your theory with regards to the tactical usage of vehicles (being the circumstances after reduced subsidy causing fuel hike in the past) shall remain a theory, however may be applicable and suitable to only reduce heavy traffic flow on the road. Furthermore, car pools arent that much applicable nowadays as everyone has their own activities before, during and after work. Meanwhile, your optimism on the reduced/reducing oil subsidy may fail to realize that most of the day to day activities are transportation related. Furthermore, you might have also overlooked on the matter where these requirements i.e. public transport, food and beverage and many more (to name a few) are interconnected. Talking about price control, they never seemed to work efficiently. It is actually taking a toll on all of us especially the lower income earners to be able to digest the high cost of living with the same standard of living in one household, per say (standard of living remain unchanged despite the cost of living increasing to a par where they are unable to bear no more). And at the same time, when subsidies are reduced in bulk, it is actually a bigger opportunity for financial leakages from within and therefore unseen or undetected, and this adds to major corruption (if any) at present. It’s even worse when the revenue (by reducing oil subsidy) is utilized on specific development which has less interest for the Rakyat in comparison with the actual need. We have in Malaysia, the rich, the middle income earners, the lower income earners, and the poor. And when the country’s financial ground arent properly managed or directed, we do not need Maria Chin or Ambiga Sreenivasan to hold a street demo, instead the demo shall take place on its own without you realizing and trust me this will take place when the people begin to soon feel the burden and the pain in maintaining their day to day expenses. From what I knew, GST shall take flight in 2015 (maybe less than 6 months from now), and please take note that GST was introduced before the recent reduce in oil subsidy. Petrol is not exempted from GST, so yes; there may be a possible decrease in the subsidy in near future, but GST (Government Service Tax) shall remain and will not be scrapped. When the oil subsidy is increased, ALL Malaysians are benefiting from it (each and every category to each and every lifestyle), but when it’s reduced, the benefits are categorical and not overall. Take a look at the present taxation schedule for “household” earning less than 5K per month. It’s already at a standard scale and acceptably lowest. One category is for families and obviously the other for the singles. (1) Combine income in a family, you pay minimal or none at all. (2) You pay substantial amount if you’re single. I’m saying this for both categories because you mentioned (specifically) on earners earning less than 5K per month, so on this subject, lowering income tax for these earners are simply irrelevant. Our borders are protected, and theyre protected by the Police and Armies, and still we are facing a high rate of oil smuggling. Are we stating that our country is so not dependable when it comes to protection or internal security at our borders or protecting our assets per say? And just because of this, the Rakyat has to bear 2 Billion per month (only by reducing the oil subsidy) notwithstanding the other expenses mentioned above which has multiplied due to the decrease of oil subsidy. So, how many Billion more should the Rakyat bear to suffer in order to solve issues with regards to these weaknesses? I reserve my comments with regards to Thailand (a country which was and still is facing imbalanced development and Leader) and The Republic of Singapore (dictatorship country) soon facing high density but wealthy. Thank you Sir. Have a great day ahead of you.
