Mubeen Siddiqui Barefoot college, a world within itself is located in a nearly deserted village Tilonia in Rajsthan. Among many programmes running in this place, one fascinating programme running since 2005 is Solar Training. Apart from training the local women, the authorities travel to underdeveloped countries in Africa and South America, and specifically select women aged between 35-45 for a six months programme. By the end of the intensive six months training, the women, now, solar engineers make solar lanterns, charger controllers, LED lamps, and learn the process of wiring to set up a solar panels in households. Shehnaz, 25 years old, is a trainer at Barefoot College. She took her training three years ago and started teaching at Batefoot. She says after completing my training, I feel I need to pass my knowledge and skills to other women. Its a nice feeling to help someone light up their homes.
