Mufulira district commissioner Chanda Kabwe has appealed to the private sector to ensure that they empower small scale farmers to divert from the traditional way of farming by encouraging them to start using small mechanised agricultural equipment that can help them to ease their farming activities. In a statement made available to the media, Mr. Kabwe said if farming at the grassroots level is improved by sensitising and educating the farmers using the modern way of farming their farm produce will be harvested in bulk. He adds that as the district commissioner of the mining and border town he is happy with the progression rate of the growth of the agriculture sector in Mufulira. Mr Kabwe notes that despite the district having so many subsistence farmers, the Patriotic Front Government is working around the clock to ensure that their way of farming is efficient and improved by supplying farming inputs needed during the farming season on time.
