Muhammad’s Wives and Teachings on Marriage Muhammad is estimated by scholars to have had somewhere between 15-25 wives. All agree that he had 9 wives at the time of his death. At the age of 49 he was betrothed to Aisha, age six. He had intercourse with her when he was 52 years old and she was nine. Aisha was Muhammad’s closest friends, Abu Bakrs, daughter.
