Mukti Parv Samagam - Brief History The Sant Nirankari Mission observes 15th of August as Mukti Purv or Spiritual Liberation Day. The mother of the then Head of the Mission, Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji - Jagatmata Budhwanti Ji, breathed her last this day in 1964. To drive out inspiration from her life this day was celebrated as Jagat Mata Divas. Later, when Shahenshah Baba Avtar Singh Ji, who himself had led the Mission as its Spiritual Mentor from 1943 to 1962, left this mortal world on the 17th September, 1969 but without giving special significance to that day it was decided by Baba Gurubachan Singh ji Maharaj to pay homage to him also on the 15th of August. Since that day, this day was named as Shehenshah-Jagtmata Divas. The day got its present nomenclature - Mukti Purv in 1979. It was, however, decided that the day should be dedicated to remember not only Baba Avtar Singh Ji and Jagatmata Budhwanti Ji but all saints who dedicated their lives to the Mission and continued to preach its message till their last breath. Prominent among them are the fore-runners like Pradhan Labh Singh Ji, the first President of the Sant Nirankari Mandal who, incidentally also expired on the 15th of August in 1979; Dr. Des Raj Ji- Vice-President; Ram Saran Das Ji, the first Secretary; Babu Mahadev Singh Ji - Vice-Secretary, Shri Santokh Singh Ji - Publication Incharge, Jugal Kishore Ji - the first Treasurer; Shri Bhagat Ramchander Ji - Langar Incharge and other saints who accounted with these saints who popularly known as the galaxy of Seven Stars. They all are known for their devotion towards Satguru and selfless service to fellow-devotees. Saints used to celebrate 15th of August as Guru Puja Diwas and Mukti Parv Divas Together. With the deep desire of Sadh Sangat Since 2003 Gurupooja Divas started getting celebrated on 23rd Feb which is the birthday of His Holiness Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj. Since then 15th August was completely dedicated for those who rededicated themselves to the service of the True Master and the Sangat. The list of such dedicated devotees of the Mission who dedicated whole of their lives for its propagation through word and action has continued to expand.
