Mulvey Signs For Ladies SCOTLAND star Suzanne Mulvey feels she has joined the country’s most progressive team after signing for Rangers Ladies from Glasgow City. The 29-year-old striker will turn out for Angie Hind’s side next season and her recruitment is a major coup for the Blue Belles. Mulvey has had injury problems in recent seasons but is back to her best again now and helped City to the last 16 of this term’s Champions League. With four goals in 31 appearances for her country, she’s a key addition to a side which has made big strides in 2013. Gers finished fifth in the SWPL this year, their highest ever final position, and recorded some notable results along the way. Unbeaten in 11 games at one stage, they held regular champions City to a 0-0 draw as Eddie Wolecki Black’s team failed to win a domestic fixture for the first time in 69 outings. Hibs, Celtic and Spartans – the teams which finished second, third and fourth respectively – were all beaten along the way too. Mulvey has taken note of the results Hind’s team has obtained and is looking forward to playing her part in the squad’s continued development. She said: “I’m delighted to be signing for who I see as Scotlands most progressive women’s football team. “It’s a side with spirit, conviction and a real go-to attitude which is meeting challenges and having triumphs with a fantastic team on and off the pitch. “I’m impressed with the coaching ability and progress Ive seen at Rangers and I cant wait to be a part of that and be further developed myself.” Coach Hind feels bringing Mulvey in is an important step in her team’s constant evolution as it gets to a point where it can genuinely be expected to push for trophies next year. She added: “We showed last season we are now a strong team with quality individual players and a cohesive group and we’re delighted to add Suzanne to that. “To make the next step we want to add a few players with the talent and ambition to help us challenge. “Suzanne is a difference maker. Her work-rate, athleticism and scoring ability in the final third has always impressed me. She will be a role model for our young players. “This past season she brought a lot to Glasgow Citys play and on-field success and has also stepped back into the national set up so there is no doubt about the calibre of player she is. “As important, however, is the fact Suzanne is a quality person who will fit in well with our squad and the team environment and ethos we have at the club. “I speak on behalf of the players and staff at the club in saying we are thrilled to have Suzanne join Rangers. I’m excited to work with her.”
