Mum question: My 2yr 10month old son is out of control. He hits, kicks, spits, punches, bites, strangles my 2 daughters and myself, throws any toys at walls, us, anything he can find. Meltdowns are a non stop daily occurance over the slightest little thing. Even having a door shut to daughters bedrooms sets him off. He gets plenty of one on one time all day everyday. Ive tried time out, ignoring him, slight taps on hand. Restraining him but hes to strong for me and headbutts me. Telling him to stop, getting down to his level and talking gently, yelling. Nothing seems to work. He has been this way for 18months now but worse since his dad and i split 2 weeks ago. Please help me. Im at a loss as to how to deal with him. Im at a point where i despise being a mummy to the son i always longed to have. Pinky says: It sounds as though you and your children are having a really tough time right now. Please try and work from the perspective: my child is HAVING a problem, rather than my child is BEING a problem. It sounds as though hes having a really tough time emotionally - children are very aware of our energy and if you have just separated the energy will have been awry for some time. It may be worth getting a GP referral to a Psychologist who can support you and help you guide your little ones through this, especially your little boy.
