Munchkin Update: Earlier this week, I came home to find my little darlins face puffed up like she had mumps. Two little golf ball-sized puffs on either side of her snout (didnt have the heart to take a picture). Vet told me shed probably been stung by - or more likely chomped down on - a bee and was having an allergic reaction. Got through that and now keep benedryl on hand in case this comes up again. Meanwhile, we are making big progress in training. She now has a verbal sit and down, even at a little distance. And at the trainers suggestion, I switched out her dog training treats for cut up hot dogs. (Dont worry, O health-conscious friends; theyre additive free, pure meat, nothing funky in them.) WOAH did that ever make a difference in her attention! When we work with them, she is astonishingly good at loose leash, very close to heel (we havent worked specifically on that yet). And on the fire road, when I have her off leash completely, I can also get her to walk alongside me, at times close to heel, and she comes directly back from great distance with only a single call. Hows that for a 6-month-old!
